Requirements for Marriage Licences issued at the City of Woodstock
Cost: $110.00 - cash or interac only
Waiting Period:
There is NO waiting period. The licence is valid immediately once issued. You have three (3) months from the date of issue in which to have the marriage performed before the licence expires. Should you pass the three (3) month period, another licence must be purchased. No refunds can be provided for marriage licences issued.
Issuing Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday
Previous Marriage:
Divorced If the divorce has taken place in Canada, the original or a certified copy of the FINAL DECREE or JUDGMENT or CERTIFICATE of DIVORCE must be provided.
Divorced outside Canada Registrar General authorization is required. Contact the City Clerk's office for details.
Widow/Widower An original or certified copy of the Death Certificate is required.
Identification:
Two pieces of identification for both parties must be provided. Birth Certificates and Drivers Licence are preferred. A baptism certificate, photo health card, or an active passport will be accepted if birth certificate or drivers licence is not available.
Age Restrictions:
16 and 17 years of age - Parental consent must be obtained prior to the issuance of the marriage licence. Contact the City Clerk's office for additional information. Proof of age must be provided.
One Party Present:
Either the bride or groom must be present to purchase a marriage licence. If only one person is attending, the identification listed above must be provided for both parties.
