Transportation Master Plan Print

Project Finalization

The City of Woodstock initiated a Transportation Master Plan (TMP), under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process. The objective of the TMP is to develop a comprehensive plan that will:
  • review existing transportation and traffic operations and downtown parking facilities
  • review future transportation system improvements to accommodate urban growth in the City
  • develop an implementation strategy to satisfy short term and longer term transportation needs.
This EA was undertaken as a Transportation Master Plan project under the Municipal Engineers Association’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Amended 2007) and fulfills Phase 1 and 2 of the Planning and Design Process which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public Information Centres

Two Public Information Centres (PIC’S) were held to present information to, and obtain input from the public. The first was held on January 26, 2010 to present and receive input on the preliminary assessment of current and future transportation needs and opportunities and to outline preliminary transportation strategies for consideration. The needs and opportunities were reviewed in light of comments received, and opportunities and alternatives have been developed and analysed in more detail.

The second Public Information Centre for the Transportation Master Plan was held on June 9, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the City Council Chambers, 500 Dundas Street.  This meeting was arranged to review and obtain public comments on the alternatives/opportunities under consideration as well as the study recommendations.  There was also a review of the Springbank Avenue North and Athlone Avenue reconstruction projects.

The final Draft Transportation Master Plan is being presented to City Council on February 17, 2011 following which there will be a thirty (30 day) public comment period.  At the conclusion of the comment period the report will be finalized.
