The City of Woodstock approved a new Comprehensive Zoning By-Law (By-Law No. 8626-10) on July 15, 2010. The new By-Law replaces Woodstock Restricted Area Zoning By-law No. 5899-81, which has been effect since 1981.

The Zoning By-law can be viewed on-line by clicking here.  Paper copies of the By-Law can be purchased for $55.00 + GST each (shipping extra) from the County of Oxford Community and Strategic Planning Office (519-539-9800).

The contents of the Zoning By-Law reflect the latest consolidation of the document, including amendments. For up-to-date zoning information on specific properties, please contact the City of Woodstock Engineering Office at 519-539-1291.

The Zoning By-law controls the use of land in the community and states exactly how land may be used; where buildings and structures can be located and how they may be used; lot sizes and dimensions, parking requirements, building heights and setbacks from streets, among other matters. Where an Official Plan sets out the municipality's general policies for future development, Zoning By-laws put those policies into effect and provide the day-to-day administration of land use. The provisions of the Zoning By-law are specific and are legally enforceable.

All lands within the City of Woodstock are affected by the Zoning By-law.
