On August 12, 2004 the Woodstock City Council launched an expanded awards program that recognizes significant contributions to the community.

Program Overview:

• A Civic Award of Excellence shall be presented to such persons or groups having accomplished an act or deed of distinction or excellence.
• A Selection Committee shall be established by resolution of Council at the commencement of each Council term.
• Such award shall be in the form of a suitably inscribed plaque or in the form of a suitably inscribed medallion.
• Such persons or groups that qualify shall be presented with the award at a regular meeting of Council or on another occasion.
