cow150px a Smoke Free Outdoors: The Woodstock Story
In 2008, the City of Woodstock, enacted a comprehensive outdoor smoking by-law that restricted or banned smoking in parks, recreational fields, transit environments, downtown patios and doorways. A study conducted by the University of Waterloo showed the policy was effective at reducing smoking in regulated environments, helping some smokers to cut back and supporting smoking cessation. Woodstock decision makers were invited to discuss creating a more walkable, and bikeable community with great public places. International liveable city advisor Gil Peñalosa explained how to create more people-friendly cities, facilitated by Ontario-based non-profit organization 8-80 Cities.
