Boyle Grave Site

Visit "Klondike" Joe Boyle's grave site in the Presbyterian Cemetery on Vansittart Avenue.  Boyle made a fortune in the Yukon as a gold miner. During World War I he raised his own 50 man machine gun unit and became an honourary colonel. He helped to improve the railway system in Russia, and after the Revolution in 1917, he was responsible for the collection and distribution of food. He had many extraordinary adventures while acting as a spy for Britain and France. Boyle became a close friend and advisor of Queen Marie of Romania, was made a Romanian national hero and received the highest awards from Russia, France and Britain.

Farmers' Market

The weekly Farmers' Market, which features the best of Oxford County's bounty, is held every Saturday at the Woodstock Fairgrounds from 7 a.m. through noon. Products include cheese, bakery, meat counters, produce, crafts and flowers.

Springbank Snow Countess Monument

This lifesize concrete statue was made to honour a record-setting milk producing Holstein Freisian cow. The designer was Ross Butler. The statue was erected on August 4, 1937. The "Snow Countess" was born on November 18, 1919 and died August 9, 1936. During her lifetime, she produced 9,062 pounds of butterfat, impressive at that time. It was erected by the Holstein Freisian Association of Canada on the Springbank Farm of T.R. Dent, owner of Snow Countess. The statue cost $4,000 at that time. The statue was recently moved to its new home at the northwest corner  of Dundas and Springbank Avenues.

Woodstock Raceway and Slots

Woodstock Raceway and Slots is located in the Woodstock Fairgrounds at 851 Nellis Street.  Horse races are held from May through September. Check the link below for dates. The Ontario Lottery Gaming Commission has licensed 100 slot machines at this location. Simulcast wagering is also available seven days a week.

Woodstock Peace Lighthouse

Woodstock's Peace Lighthouse is an international place of pilgrimage. The ten storey gallery is home to the largest "icon" collection of its kind in the world. The icons depict the life of Christ. Also housed here is an original stone from the home of St. Peter in Galilee as well as a collection of ancient maps from the holy land. The Lighthouse is located at 160 Ferguson Drive, Woodstock.

Old St. Paul's Anglican Church

Visit historic Old St. Paul’s Church whose history is closely linked to Woodstock’s own. The first service was held in the church on June 29, 1834 with a congregation of eleven.
