Reporting directly to Council, the Chief Administrative Officer is the head of administration for the City. The C.A.O. has control and management of the administration of the City, performing duties as prescribed by by-law of the Council. Working with the heads of the various departments the C.A.O. makes recommendations on policy matters to Council and ensures that policies, procedures and directions of Council are communicated to, and acted upon by administration. Further, all administrative reports and recommendations to Council are consolidated and coordinated through the C.A.O.
The department consists of the C.A.O. and one administrative assistant whose time is shared with the Mayor’s Office.
